In observance of Earth Day April 22, a community cleanup took place at Red Mill Pond, hosted jointly by K. Hovanian Homes, now building new homes in the South Village of Red Mill Pond, and by the Villages at Red Mill Pond Homeowners Association. KHovnanian provided coffee, tea and refreshments for the volunteers who showed up, and allowed participants to place recovered trash in the company dumpster.
About 35 homeowners from both Red Mill Pond villages showed up for the event. A set of 11 small maps were distributed to designate where different groups should work, and large trash bags were issued to each crew. Volunteers worked on the streets bordering the community, around the stormwater ponds in both villages, and along the Lewes-Georgetown walking trail, picking up paper, plastic bags, plastic bottles and construction material blown into the woods, such as styrofoam packing material.
