Delaware needs a climate action plan

September 27, 2022

It was good to see in Cape Gazette’s Sept. 16 issue that SOLA3 and invited experts discussed the dangers we, in the lowest-lying state, face from sea-level rise and climate change. Since the two largest sources of carbon dioxide pollution come from transportation and energy production, we should all do our part to reduce transportation emissions by walking, riding bicycles, taking the bus and driving an electric vehicle. We should also reduce our energy-related emissions by putting solar panels on our roofs. An energy audit is also vital for conservation and efficiency efforts. Offshore wind turbines promise even more clean energy to our region. Several Delaware cities (Newark, Milton) already have climate sustainability plans. Delaware needs a comprehensive climate action law that reduces global warming gases to zero by 2050. We can do it!
