The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2 honored Dewey Beach Patrolman First Class Jack Kane for risking his life to save six occupants from a house fire in April.

Kane was presented with a plaque at the Delaware State Lodge Conference in Ocean City on Sept. 30, and he previously received honors from the Delaware House and Senate for his bravery.

Additionally, a certificate of appreciation was awarded to retired Dewey Beach Police Chief Sam Mackert, FOP #171, recognizing his efforts in establishing Lodge 2 by signing the Lodge Charter in 1983. Mackert was unable to attend the ceremony due to a prior commitment.
