Delores Walker Harris, great cook
Delores “Dee” Walker Harris, 66 of Milford, departed this life Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at her home. Delores was born in North Carolina Nov. 30, 1955, and moved to Delaware as a small child.
Delores, Aunt Dee to many, was world famous for not holding back her opinion and telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. She always gave good, logical advice to all those who sought her wisdom, and her vocabulary was highly proficient in four-letter words to back it up. These words of wisdom, encouragement, and sometimes comfort, kept everyone on their toes, teaching that self-pity was not an option, and gave everyone something to pass down to the next generation. Everyone always knew where they stood with her; either she liked you or she didn't, just as simple as that! Delores was good at cooking any and everything, from crabs to crocodile. If you brought it, she’d find a recipe, or make one up! Her plastic bags of leftovers will be missed by everyone that ever crossed her threshold. Delores was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents Luther Walker Sr. and Agnes Sherrod Walker; and one brother Arthur Walker. She is survived by her daughters, Dana Harris (Ed Stevens) and Juton Harris, both of Milford, and Tynice Gardner (Gregory) of Brandywine, Md. (who was adopted and lovingly raised by the Brittngham family of Lewes); one sister, Cleo Walker of South Carolina; and three brothers, Robert Walker of Felton, and James Walker (Jessica) and Luther Walker Jr., both of Dover; and two best friends, Stella Hazzard and Veronica Martin of Dover; along with 10 grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Per her request, a small memorial will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at McPherson Funeral Home, 11475 Commercial Lane, Laurel, with a repast dinner to follow at Rudy’s Family Restaurant in Harrington.
