Local chef and food truck entrepreneur Jamie Parsons was remembered by his family and friends in a celebration of life at Schellville Oct. 24, on his heavenly birthday. Parsons died Sept. 19, after a battle with cancer.
The event featured music from Al Frantic, Tyler Greene and the Williams Brothers, who each donated their musical talents. Food from SmashMouth Burgers and Fat Vinny’s Cheesesteaks food trucks was donated. Refreshments and venue were donated by Schell Brothers.
Donations were collected for the Jamie Parsons Foundation for Culinary Arts, a scholarship that will be awarded locally. Donations can be made to the foundation by mailing a check to the Greater Lewes Foundation, P.O. Box 110, Lewes, DE 19958.
Donations may also be made to defray medical costs at the Lewes or Rehoboth branches of Community Bank. Checks can be made out to Nichole Parsons with “Jamie Parsons Celebration of Life” in the memo. Checks can be sent to Community Bank, P.O. Box 742, Lewes, DE 19958.
“Jamie’s love of food and spontaneous nature always brought something fun and delicious into our daily life,” said wife Nichole. “His absence is palpable. It is my hope to have some type of a similar event yearly to raise money for the culinary foundation to keep that going.”
