Bragging rights were on the line Nov. 1, as the Beacon and Mariner soccer squads squared off on the turf of Legends Stadium. When the final horn sounded, Mariner had taken the 2-1 intra-district victory back to Milton.
Seth Benjamin scored for Beacon on a 40-yard boot off a pass from teammate Keagan McMahon.
Austin Tyndall scored both goals for Mariner.
“We had a great group of kids,” said Mariner coach Collin Brady. “We can go 1-9 during the season as long as that one win is over Beacon.”
Mariner finished 7-3 on the season.
Beacon finishes its season 6-3-1.
Beacon head coach Chip Wilt congratulated and wished good luck to all the eighth-grade soccer players who played their last middle school soccer game, including McMahon, Benjamin, Jacob Panyko, Kayden Holt, Owen Sponaugle, Hugh Jack, Colton Donovan, Ryan Miller and Samay Kumar.
Mariner eighth-graders include Tyndall, Anderson Puac-Escalante, Dilan Velasquez-Bravo, Cesar Gomez-Mazariegos, Benno Pons, Jeremiah Heck, Bradley Perez Garcia, Alan Hernandez-Becerra, Anthoni Jimenez, Roany Flores-Lares and Zuriel Ramos-Ramirez.
