Midshipman Cosgrove named to Naval Academy outreach team
U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman 2nd Class Bridget Cosgrove of Seaford has been selected to be part of the academy’s Operation Information high school student outreach program, known as OPINFO.
Scheduled in conjunction with the Thanksgiving leave period, OPINFO is one of the academy’s most important admissions outreach programs. Midshipmen who participate are granted extra leave to visit their local high schools and make other appearances to promote the Naval Academy.
As an OPINFO representative, Cosgrove will visit in person with Sussex County high school students to discuss her experiences as well as the application process.
Cosgrove is majoring in quantitative economics at the academy and is a member of the USNA Women’s Lacrosse Club team.
Upon completion of the Naval Academy’s four-year program, each midshipman earns a bachelor of science degree and is commissioned as either a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps or an ensign in the U.S. Navy.
Cosgrove was nominated to the Naval Academy in 2020 by U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester.
She is a graduate of Sussex Academy High School in Georgetown, where she was a captain of the Seahawks field hockey and lacrosse teams, and president of the National Honor Society. She was the school’s delegate to Delaware Girls State, HOBY and the DIAA Student Leadership Conference.
