Brush Factory in Lewes celebrates the season of giving

Local vendors spice up the flavor of the holidays
November 23, 2022

Getting a jump on the holiday season, the Brush Factory on Kings welcomed customers and visitors to sample the flavors of the season Nov. 12. Frank & Louie’s Italian Specialties, Swell Joe Coffee, Sober Dough Bread, Sugar & Scrubs by Minnie, The Backyard and Michelle Colbert Antiques and Decor were some of the many local businesses featured inside the unique marketplace.

Customers with a sweet tooth were treated to brownie samples from Milton’s The Backyard and a special candy bar from Swell Joe Coffee. Washing it down with a taste of the seasons, customers learned about Swell Joe’s holiday flavor, Snickerdude – which runs for a limited time – and that proceeds from the candy bar purchase go to the Surf Gimp Foundation. Fresh baked bread from Sober Dough, coming in flavors like savory rosemary and rich pumpkin, wasn’t just for the birds either, as customers sampled the trendy new item that can be made using club soda or beer.

Minnie Pettengell, a middle-school entrepreneur who started Sugar & Scrubs by Minnie while in elementary school, was on site right next to the Swell Joe Coffee stand. Featured among the exfoliating scrubs were seasonal favorites caramel apple, pumpkin pie, candy corn, candy cane, eggnog and sugar cookie.

Rays Produce and Flowers, infectious with their positive energy, encouraged shoppers to think about donating to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket for Thanksgiving. The charitable drive began the first week of November and allows customers to purchase a fresh food bag for $10. More than 100 bags had been sold before noon, Nov. 12.

The Brush Factory on Kings is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while Rays Produce and Flower’s market is open Friday through Sunday. More information about the Brush Factory is available at thebrushfactoryonkings.com or by calling 302-864-7005.
