Lunch with a Purpose benefits therapeutic riding group
Lunch with a Purpose Coastal Delaware held its fourth luncheon of the season Dec. 7.
Rehoboth Beach Country Club was the venue for the festive event that benefitted Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding, a 501c3, nonprofit center in Harbeson that is affiliated with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International. Thanks to the generosity of those attending, SDTR so far has realized nearly $5,400 in cash donations and $2,000 of in-kind donations.
SDTR has offered PATH-certified therapeutic riding instructors and trained volunteers since 1988. It is dedicated to improving the physical and emotional well-being of children and adults living with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy in a supportive environment for riders and families. Formed from a core of 10 women, Lunch with a Purpose Coastal Delaware has grown to serve 200 guests nine times a year. Luncheons benefit Sussex County charities and are held at various venues throughout the county the first Wednesday of each month.
Shepherd’s Office of Georgetown, a center serving people who are unhoused in the area, will be the beneficiary of the Jan. 4 event at Signatures at Bayside in Selbyville.
