The midterm elections are over, Russ Huxtable secured his 6th District Senate seat, and homeowners in the Anthem development in Milton are still waiting for the resolution of the drainage issues in their open space. A few workers show up periodically to move dirt around, but it remains a swampy mess, holding even more water for longer than it did a year ago. Milford Housing and the Sussex Conservation District assure us the area will be dry, but we watch the water rise and the perimeter drainage back up with every rainstorm. It’s ironic that one of the local representatives we would call on to help us out is the same person who put us in this mess in the first place. In addition, Councilman John Rieley told us in the fall that he would come up with a solution, which has yet to be seen. It’s not rocket science. It’s not a mystery what to do. Milford Housing needs to commit the time and money to properly drain this area. Please, Councilman Rieley, Sussex Conservation District and, most of all, Sen. Huxtable and Milford Housing, do the right thing and work together to fix Anthem’s drainage issues now.
