In keeping with refresh, Delaware Association of Realtors’ theme for the year, its 150 luncheon guests were recently given evergreen saplings to plant.
DAR President Chrissy Steele, new directors and officers were installed during the event.
These 150 trees will be added to the grand total for Gov. John Carney’s Tree for Every Delawarean Initiative. In 2021, Carney vowed to plant a tree for every Delaware resident in hopes of reducing greenhouse gases and their negative impacts on the environment and global warming.
“In the spirit of refreshing our state association’s benefits to our Realtor members, and being the voice of real estate in Delaware, we wanted to encourage our members and guests to refresh their communities by increasing the number of trees around us,” said Wesley Stefanick, DAR CEO. “This will help deliver cleaner air, enhance stormwater mitigation and encourage biodiversity in our ecosystems. A greener Delaware is a healthier Delaware for residents and tourists alike.”
In addition to Delaware’s tree-planting initiative, the National Association of Realtors recently launched a partnership with the National Forest Foundation to plant a tree for every member, which equates to roughly 1.5 million new trees across the country.
