Cape unified basketball defeats Poly 33-30

February 13, 2023

The Cape unified basketball team moved to 4-2 on the season with a thrilling 33-30 victory over Polytech.

Declan Morrissey paced the Vikings with 11 points. Kayden Gibbs tallied six, while Zane Richardson and Luke Burton each had five. Noah Ryan tallied four. Jack Huss and Brexton Carter had two each.

The two teams battled back and forth throughout the game, and Ryan hit a three at the buzzer to give the Vikings the victory.

“I continue to be amazed at how wonderful this team works together,” said Cape coach Jenn Hagen. “All the players truly rally behind each other, especially during this week when one of our athletes lost her brother. At times I am speechless because the partners and athletes just bring such joy to the coaches, fans and each other. They fought hard and came away with an incredible victory.”

The Vikings will travel to Seaford Thursday, Feb. 16, for a game with the Blue Jays.
