Daughters of the American Revolution hold state meeting

The Delaware State Society, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its spring meeting March 11 at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington.

The Col. David Hall Chapter of Lewes hosted the meeting, which included national President General Pamela Rouse Wright, who resides in Texas, as an honored guest. The 100 attendees included members of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution.

Wright presented state awards to Col. David Hall Chapter American History Essay awardees Abby Hazzard, a Beacon Middle School eighth-grader, and Kaden Riley Spillane, a Beacon fifth-grader. They had previously been awarded their local  chapter certificates and pins.

DAR Good Citizen Essay awardee Ava Crotty, a Cape Henlopen High School senior, received her state award and scholarship from Wright, Delaware State Regent Barbara Seningen and Good Citizen Committee Chair Leslie Donaldson. Crotty read her essay for attendees. Her Col. David Hall Scholarship will be awarded at Cape High’s senior awards ceremony.
