Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 installs new officers

In a ceremony held April 1, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 of Lewes installed Joy Schreck as exalted ruler for the 2023-24 fraternal year.

Officers and guests were welcomed by outgoing Exalted Ruler Joanne Mayer, followed by remarks from Past Exalted Ruler Ralph Patterson.

During the ceremony, John Mazzotta, grand treasurer, grand esquire and past exalted ruler, described the responsibilities of each position.

In addition to Schreck, elected officers are Leading Knight Buddy Hall-McBride; Loyal Knight Marty Schreck; Lecturing Knight Betty Ann Kortlang; Esquire Mary DiGennaro; Chaplain Jack Anderson; Inner Guard Bob Hall-McBride; Tiler Lynne Brown; Secretary Joanne Mayer, PER; Treasurer Karen Palmer; Gary Eckenrode, PER, one-year trustee; Ralph Patterson, PER, two-year trustee; Bill Fay, three-year trustee; Paul Holton, PER, four-year trustee; and Kelly Barber, five-year trustee.

In recognition of exceptional service to the lodge, awards were given to Citizen of the Year Barbara Gilsenan, Officer of the Year Paul Holton and Elk of the Year Dan Celia.

In addition, Ralph Patterson and Volunteer Coordinator Terrie Bradley were recognized for their outstanding contributions throughout the year. Dinner was followed by popular music entertainment provided by lodge member DJ Shermanator.
