Delaware Beaches Jellystone family park offers old-fashioned fun

April 25, 2012

Delaware Beaches Jellystone is a hidden gem in Sussex County, but not for long, according to Brent Fannin, part owner of the local home of Yogi Bear and BooBoo. “We converted the park last year and have been pleasantly surprised at the response and excitement in the community that it has created,” said Fannin.

A successful small business operated by a local family, Delaware Beaches Jellystone Park is part of a franchise of 80 other Jellystones across the nation. “We wanted to create something for our children, and something for the community that provides healthy and wholesome entertainment," said Todd Fannin. The Fannin family also owns Country Life Homes, a premier building and development firm in Sussex County. “Being from Milford and now with my brothers and I raising our children here, all of us wanted to help strengthen our community.”

From all accounts, that is exactly what is happening in Lincoln, an unlikely location for cutting-edge fun and games. Delaware Beaches Jellystone has been described as a bit of Americana circa the 1950s. “It is a place where families can vacation that is safe and fun,” said Lynne Maloy, general manager of the park. “Where else can you see Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, have three-legged races, bike parades, hay rides and good times?”

The Fannin family opened the park for its second season in late March and gathered around Yogi with their employees to document the occasion. “We are so proud of our team,” said Brent Fannin. “They give new meaning to the words 'happy campers.'"
