Mariner Middle volunteer is Delaware mentor of the month

Mariner Middle School volunteer Eddie Shockley was named Delaware’s Mentor of the Month for March by the Creative Mentoring program.
Connecting Generations operates the Creative Mentoring program for adaptation in Sussex, Kent and New Castle schools. Cape launched its program in November 2021.
Shockley mentors three students at the school. Together, they talk, play games and build relationships.
“It gives me a sense of fulfillment,” Shockley said. “I feel like I’m giving back.”
Shockley has volunteered at Mariner Middle for two years, and before that, mentored students at Southern Delaware School of the Arts for four years.
