William Morrison Lux Jr., PECO retiree
William Morrison Lux Jr., 80, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., son of the late William M. and Alice (McKnett) Lux.
William grew up in Upper Darby, Pa., a place he returned to often and kept close to his lifelong friendships. He graduated from Upper Darby High School Class of 1960. William married Janet Lux, and the two would spend many beautiful years together with happy memories in West Chester, Pa., their home for the majority of their lives, raising their sons, Bill and David. He enjoyed a long career with PECO, the Philadelphia Electric Company, as a trouble man. He retired in 2014 after 50 dedicated years of service. Bill enjoyed boating, crabbing, and water sports with his sons, Bill and David, and family members. Throughout the years, he and his family enjoyed many holidays at their summer home on Old Landing in Rehoboth. After his retirement, he enjoyed staying active and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle. He particularly enjoyed traveling to McPherson College, Kansas, to watch his grandson play baseball. Bill was a family man who was a devoted brother, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be forever missed by all who had the good fortune to know him and the many stories he shared.
In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his son, William Lux III; his sister, Alice Hunt Meyer (Fred); and his brother-in-law, Kurt Seglum. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Janet Lux of Rehoboth; his son, David Lux of Pennsylvania; his daughter-in-law, Alice of Milton; his grandchildren, Jessica Lux Parker (Joshua) of Mississippi and Kyle Lux of Delaware; his great-granddaughter, Aubrey Leigh; his sister, Linda Lux Seglum (Brian and Danielle) of Delaware; his brother, Matthew Lux (Patty) of Texas; his sister-in-law, Darlene Flanigan of California; his brother-in-law, James Almeida (Amy) of Tennessee; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews who enjoyed the many stories he shared with them.
Services will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in William’s memory to American Heart Association, heart.org.
