The Lewes-Rehoboth Beach Rotary Club recently presented a $3,000 donation to Swank Memory Center.
As part of the most comprehensive memory program in the region, Swank memory ambassadors help people learn how to prevent or slow memory loss, including from Alzheimer’s disease. The center provides free in-person and online education programs that can include a free memory screen.
The Rotary club’s donation of $3,000 helps fund legal aid support for families that could not otherwise afford professional advice, as well as the caregiver support group activities. The legal aid support provides funds for elder law attorneys to advise families about Miller's Trust Qualified Income Trust, which allows for an individual with dementia to become eligible for Medicaid long-term care while still protecting some assets for support of a spouse. The support group fund provides materials, activities and respite for caregivers.
