Bridgeville man sought in connection with missing man believed dead
Delaware State Police are searching for a Bridgeville man who they say is wanted for the murder of a man who is still missing.
Bridgeville police were dispatched June 9 to a Cedar Street home looking for a man, 52, who had been reported missing, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police. The man could not be found, Hatchell said, and there were signs that there had been a violent confrontation in the house.
When one of the residents who reported the missing person came home, Hatchell said, police saw another resident, Alan Alancantara, 27, drive away in a 2006 blue Honda Civic.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and continues to attempt to locate the missing person. A warrant is out for the arrest of Alancantara in connection with first-degree murder.
Anyone with information regarding Alan Alancantara’s whereabouts should contact Detective D. Grassi with Delaware State Police Homicide Unit at 302-365-8441, email Daniel.grassi@delaware.gov, send a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police, or call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
