Bayhealth recognized for heart care excellence

June 19, 2023

The Bayhealth team works hard to ensure its cardiovascular patients receive the very best care. For the second time in two years, Bayhealth has received the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence.

The American College of Cardiology recognizes Bayhealth’s demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care.

Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a specific set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC accreditation services programs and submitting quality performance data to the National Cardiovascular Data Registries.

“Bayhealth has demonstrated its commitment to providing central and southern Delaware with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC accreditation management board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Bayhealth with the HeartCARE Center designation.”

Hospitals receiving the ACC HeartCARE Center designation have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease- and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence and community engagement. Bayhealth has proven to be a forward-thinking institution with goals to advance the cause of sustainable quality improvement.

"Our teams are deeply committed to providing outstanding care to our patients. The HeartCARE Center recognition is truly a testament to that commitment and all our team has accomplished over the years on behalf of our community," said Ben Collins, Bayhealth cardiovascular service line senior director of operations. "This designation further spotlights our excellent processes, policies, and care and quality outcomes as evidenced by observation and nationally tracked data registries."

In addition to the HeartCARE Center designation, Bayhealth has also received Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation and Electrophysiology Lab Accreditation, and was first in the state to receive Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Certification.

"When you need heart care, you don't have to travel to get the nation's best," Collins said. "Bayhealth is right in your community, and you can have ease of mind knowing that we deliver on the highest level of care. Because that's what you deserve."

The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals like Bayhealth access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services are focused on all aspects of cardiac care.
