The Lewes Major League All-Stars defeated Lower Sussex 12-0 July 13 at Lewes Little League complex. Their run in the District 3 tournament ended July 15, though, as they fell to Cape Region rival Milton.
Against Lower Sussex, the Lewes squad outhit their opponents 9-1. Jack Hudson led the Lewes team with two RBIs. Finn Gannon, Jameson Pease, Cole Gannon, Jack Wilmot and Jake Windish each delivered with an RBI. Robbie Myers went 2-for-3 while Finn Gannon and Charlie Imperial went 2-for-4 on the night.
Robbie Myers toed the rubber for 3.2 innings, striking out seven LS batters. Jack Hudson and Jack Wilmot came in from the bullpen to shut down the Lower Sussex team, which could only muster one hit.
After falling to Laurel 0-5 on July 14, Lewes moved back in the double-elimination draw to face Milton, where they made a comeback from a 2-5 three-run deficit in the top of the sixth, but fell short 4-5.
Jack Wilmot, Robbie Myers, Jameson Pease and Jameson MacPhee each knocked in a run. Charlie Imperial, Jack Wilmot and Cole Goodsell each powered a double.
Hudson went 3 innings, striking out three Milton batters. Finn Gannon and Jack Wilmot each pitched an inning out of the pen.
Milton got timely hitting and error-free fielding to garner the 5-4 win over the Lewes squad.
Nate Kristuna, Jude Bastian and Noah Smith each had an RBI in the contest.
Kasen Adams went 3-for-3, Noah Smith was 1-for-2 and Chase Madden was 1-for-3.
Adams went five innings on the mound, striking out 11 Lewes batters. Jude Bastian and Andrew Ockels came in from the bullpen.
“Although we didn’t have the success that we were hoping to this year, it was a pleasure to coach such a great group of kids,” said Lewes coach Jason Pease. “Many of them have been together for several years. A couple more big hits and our results likely would’ve been different. I’m confident that with the success our minors program has had, with three straight district championships under coach Hershelman, Lewes Little League will be very successful for years to come.”
