Beebe, Nemours set World Breastfeeding Week event July 28
Beebe Healthcare and Nemours Children’s Health are partnering to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week with a free, family-friendly event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, July 28, at the Lewes Public Library.
Powered by Breast Milk will be an open-house style event for families who will be able to have access to numerous breastfeeding and breast milk feeding resources, alongside a variety of kids’ activities and raffle prizes.
There will be educational stations, a station where library staff members read to children, and face painting.
Raffle items include a portable play yard, breast pumps, baby lounger pillows, baby carriers, a gift basket from Beebe Women’s and Children’s Services, a Nest Spa gift card, and an Azya Salon gift basket that includes hair products and a gift card for a customizable service.
“I’m so excited for this event to come to fruition to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week in Sussex County,” said Julie Oswald, BSN, IRLC, lactation program coordinator at Beebe Healthcare. “Beebe and Nemours are great partners, and this event will highlight the wonderful services and care that are provided to our Beebe Babies.”
Nemours Children’s Health serves as the pediatric partner at Beebe’s Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, providing world-class pediatric care to children in the emergency department, and newborn babies in the women’s and children’s units. The partnership ensures children receive the highest level of care right in their own community.
Beebe and Nemours Children’s are both Baby-Friendly and Safe Sleep-certified healthcare systems committed to providing the optimal level of care for infant feeding, mother-and-infant bonding, and safe sleep practices. Both organizations offer board-certified lactation consultants to assist with newborn feeding, breastfeeding classes, support groups and interpreter services.
