Robert Morrison, avid sports fan

Robert Morrison, 82, died Friday, July 21, 2023. He fought cardiac surgery and lung cancer, but his final struggle was with Lewy body dementia.

Bob was born March 6, 1941, in Carbondale, Pa., son of the late James and Doris (Denny) Morrison. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School, and his early years of employment were spent in the field of heavy and highway construction. Bob married Mary Teresa Sachele in 1969. He became the proprietor of a tavern and pizzeria in the mid-1970s, and the couple retired to Rehoboth Beach in 2000. An avid sports fan, Bob also enjoyed thoroughbred racing and traveling to Saratoga, N.Y., with family and friends. 

Bob was the last remaining child of his immediate family, preceded in death by his siblings, Carol, James, John, Judith, William, Donald, Marlene and Lorraine. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert P. Morrison; his daughter, Carole Vogel; and his grandchildren, Grant, Brooke and Daniela.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. Edmond Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
