Edward Ploskon, proud Army veteran
Edward Ploskon, 99, of Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, at Delaware Hospice in Milford. He was born March 15, 1924, in New Castle, son of the late John and Agnes Ploskon.
Edward was born and raised in South Side Wilmington. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War ll, having honorably served for three years overseas in the European Theater. He enjoyed a lengthy career as a bindery foreman, retiring after 40 dedicated years. He had numerous active and constructive hobbies, including fishing and boating with his family on the Indian River. In his later years, Ed enjoyed playing cornhole, cooking old Polish family recipes, and spending time with the growing family. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Up to the last days of his life, he was still active and always willing to give a helping hand. More than anything, Ed treasured time spent with family and friends. He was a loving and nurturing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ed was loved by many, and he will be forever missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by in 2004 by his wife, Thelma (Giles) Ploskon. He is survived by his children, Jim Ploskon and his wife Sandi, and Dianne Short and her husband Don; his grandchildren, Juli Decker and her husband Bob, Brian Ploskon and his wife Megan, Mike Short, and Michelle Ploskon; and his great-grandchildren: Ethan, Abigail, Austen, Logan, Liam, Giles, Harley, Reese and Malcolm.
Family and friends are invited to visit at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 7, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Funeral Services follow at 11 a.m. Burial immediately following at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
