As part of the continuing Performing Arts Series, Groome Church and the Overfalls Foundation sponsored an Aug. 6 concert at Canalfront Park in Lewes featuring Charlie Zahm singing songs of the sea.
The concert honored and celebrated Family Promise of Southern Delaware for addressing family homelessness by providing prevention services before families reach crisis situations, as well as providing shelter and case management services. The organization reaches out to families to help them secure housing or remain in their own home, offering several programs, including rental assistance, landlord mediation, and assistance with utility bills and other expenses to prevent families from becoming homeless.
The goal of Family Promise is to empower families experiencing homelessness to retain and regain the safety, security and opportunities that come with having a home.
Working with other human-services organizations, Family Promise provides case management with hands-on support to ensure families have the tools they need to mitigate issues leading to homelessness. For more information, go to familypromisesouthernde.org.
