Cape Henlopen State Park’s Herring Point was part of the scenery of the two most recent episodes of “Special Ops: Lioness,” a Paramount+ TV series written by Taylor Sheridan of “Yellowstone” fame.

A large film crew and actors filmed the park scenes at the end of September 2022. Several locals with “beach bodies” were hired as extras to fill the beach.

Five episodes of the special-ops series have already aired, with three more due to be released Sundays through Sept. 3.

Although the park beach was used in several scenes, it is not referred to as Cape Henlopen. Other filming locations included Paris, France; Fort Richie, Md.; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Md.; and Mallorca, Spain.

Scenes on a large yacht anchored off the shores of the state park were used as a base of operations for the special-ops team. There were also several aerial shots of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

The series stars Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Zoe Saldana, Laysla DeOliveria and Stephanie Nur.

The plot centers around a spy unit headed by actress Saldana who trains, places and monitors undercover operatives, including a young U.S. Marine recruit (DeOliveria), who joins the team and goes undercover to help bring down a terrorist.
