Milton should use remote water meters

August 22, 2023

The recent story about Milton forcing residents to move water meters outside concerns me. I live in Milton and have a water meter inside the front wall of my basement. Under the resolution, I would have to pay $3,000 to install an outside meter pit.

It seems it would be much cheaper to replace the meter head or the whole meter. Admittedly, it is sending a weak signal. Replacement with a new remotely scanned meter would facilitate a reading from the street.

I’m curious to know if Milton is equipped to do a remote scan and if that equipment is working properly.
