George Sylvan Pierson, well driller by trade, farmer at heart

George Sylvan Pierson, 81, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at his home with family. He was born June 19, 1942, son of Edgar Alexander Pierson and Addie Smith Pierson of Harrington.

Nelson Warren said it best, “Well driller by trade; farmer at heart. He had a swagger and a sharp tongue along with the work ethic and knowledge to back it up. One of the greats; this world is darker without him.”

George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Lee Pierson Sr.  He is survived by his daughters, Vickie and Karen; seven grandchildren, Auburn, Leslie, Connor, Will, Clayton, Coen and Kierson; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah, Jordan and Zoey; his brother, Edgar Smith “Smitty” Pierson of Milford; and many other friends and family members.

Special thanks go out to his nephews, Kenny and Doug Pierson, for all their help and support through this trying time.

George requested that there be no public service. Remember him as he was in life.
