Big Draw Festival patrons can have fun making art Oct. 2
Mispillion Art League team members are busy organizing the Big Draw Festival, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7. Attendees can enjoy free, family-friendly art activities on Park Avenue in downtown Milford. This free, family-friendly art event is a way for the community to gather and engage the senses of touch, sight, sound, taste and smell, to create art.
To engage attendees’ imaginations, this year’s activities have been developed by MAL member artists Barbara Buford, Robin Dean, Mike Fleishman, Harry Humes, Barry Koplowitz, Michael McSorely, Ann Lebengood, Isabel Pizzolato, Patti Richardson, Kathy Stetson, and Keith Warren, along with Pat Southern-Pearce, a special guest artist from the UK, Pat Southern-Pearce. Whether it’s ink blot art, mosaics, squiggle painting, pumpkin painting, making edible art, blindfold drawing, creating buttons, using stamps or chalk art, each activity has been designed for participants’ enjoyment.
First organized in the United Kingdom in 2000, the Big Draw Festival is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express and invent. Activities are for anyone looking to have a fun art-making experience.
MAL also offers a gift shop and art classes in many different mediums for age 9 and above at 5 N. Walnut St., Milford.
