Seniors celebrate Grandparents’ Day with street fair
Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe celebrated National Grandparents’ Day Sept. 10 with a special event.
The luxury senior living community transformed into a vibrant street fair to kick off the first day of National Assisted Living Week and honor grandparents.
Residents, their loved ones and team members shopped with local artisans and crafters while enjoying live entertainment, a seaside street buffet and street food vendors.
The event got a little messy and hilarious during a competitive pie-eating contest. Other entertainment included cornhole, family friendly activities and a photo booth.
“There was so much to see and do. I bought two pairs of handmade earrings and soap made by one of the staff. But the best was the pie-eating contest. I laughed so much,” said Nanese Hawthorne, a Brandywine resident.
National Assisted Living Week was established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living to provide a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, team members and the community to recognize the important role of assisted living in caring for America's seniors.
