The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Vikings by the score of 34 to 28. It was one strange game. The Vikings had four turnovers in the first half, and could’ve easily taken the lead into the locker room at half time. The Vikings star receiver, Justin Jefferson fumbled the ball out of the endzone while trying to reach the ball over the goal line for a touchdown. Because of this, it ended up being a touchback.
The Eagles offense took advantage of this and drove down for a crucial field goal to end the half. They returned from halftime and took full advantage of the momentum gained and dominated the first part of the third-quarter. But for whatever reason, that didn't last into the fourth quarter. The offense couldn't do much right until they started running the ball and squeaked the win.
The Eagles now get a mini buy week because the Eagles next game is against Tampa Bay on Monday Night Football. I hope they can use the practice time to make the offense run more efficiently. They obviously didn't do that enough in pre season.
The US Open tennis tournament has come to a conclusion with Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic winning. I did not know until the tournament started, that 50 years ago the US Open was the first major sporting event to pay the same amount of money to the men and the women who won the tournament. This year, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff both got $3 million for their victories.
I was so impressed that Coco Gauff came back to win the final after losing the first set to Elena Sabalenka. Coco could be becoming another tennis prodigy if she can win her second Major in the next few years. I think she’s going to win at least five in her career considering she is only 19 years old. She came on the scene four years ago at Wimbledon when she beat Venus Williams in the first round at the age of 15!
Novak was also a prodigy, which is the reason why he has been able to accumulate 24 Major championships over an 18 year career. He’s only 36, and I don’t think he’s going to retire anytime soon.
