Just in time for the early stages of holiday shopping, T.J. Maxx is opening Sunday, Oct. 1, outside Rehoboth Beach. The company issued a press release Sept. 19.
“Our newest store in Rehoboth Beach will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices T.J.Maxx is known for. Our buyers create a unique mix that offers value for styles in every department, and we’re excited to bring this experience to a new neighborhood,” said Peter Benjamin, T.J. Maxx president, in a prepared statement. “With a constant flow of new arrivals, we offer an exciting one-stop shop that makes it easy for consumers to stay on-trend with styles they love and save big every single day.”
T.J. Maxx is an off-price retailer with more than 1,300 stores operating in 49 states and Puerto Rico.
The store will be located between Aldi and the space previously occupied by andThat! Work on the new store, about 21,500 square feet, began in early 2023. It was the last undeveloped retail space of a 56,700-square-foot building that was once entirely occupied by Kmart. In 2017, Kmart downsized, making way for andThat! and PetSmart. What remained of the Kmart store closed in early 2021. Aldi opened in late 2021. AndThat! closed a few weeks ago; there’s no word on what will be filling it.
The address for T.J. Maxx is 19563 Coastal Hwy., Suite 2. The hours of operation on opening day are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Following opening day, the website says the store will be open 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday. For more information, call 302-227-1480.
