Odysea…Destination Beach for sale in Rehoboth Beach

Owners Rick and Carol Dryer have owned 41-year-old business for 21 years
September 21, 2023

After more than two decades of ownership, Rick and Carol Dryer are selling Odysea…Destination Beach in Rehoboth Beach.

The store is located on the Rehoboth Avenue side of The Avenue Inn & Spa. The Dryers announced the sale of the business shortly after Labor Day by quietly putting up small signs – one in the window facing Rehoboth Avenue and another on the counter near the register.

“The reason we’re selling the business [is] it’s time for retirement and a laid-back way of life,” reads the sign.

The Dryers are the second owners of the business, which has been around for 41 years. The Dryers purchased the business in the early 2000s, when it was as a custom design T-shirt shop known as Wear Art. The couple renamed the store in 2004, and also began selling home goods and ukuleles. At one point, the Dryers had locations in Long Neck and Dewey Beach, but both of those locations have closed.

In an interview Sept. 16, Rick didn’t have a whole lot more to add than what the sign said. He said it’s been a good run and they’ve really enjoyed it.

The Dryers are asking $175,000 for the business. Rick said there has been some interest; he’s handed out three packets of information.
