Jeffrey Martin, enjoyed beach life
Jeffrey Martin, 70, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Hanover, Pa., son of the late Wilbur and Agnes Martin.
The family moved to Rehoboth in 1969, where Jeff attended Cape Henlopen High School in its inaugural year. Wilbur was the founding president of Rehoboth Beach Homeowners Association. They lived on Stockley Street for 40 years.
After graduating from the University of Delaware, Jeff met his wife, Suzie, in Dewey Beach, in the summer of 1978. They married in May of 1979. During the 44 years of their marriage, Jeff’s job in the petrochemical industry took them to six different states and even to Hong Kong, where they lived for two years. Throughout the 15 moves Jeff and Suzie made together, Rehoboth Beach remained the place they called home in their hearts.
Jeff was a loyal fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Flyers. He adored going on walks with his dogs and even named several in Cal Ripken’s honor. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. When he wasn’t having fun at the beach, Jeff was probably enjoying a party pizza from Nicola Pizza.
In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by his children, Laura Martin (Nate Markley) of Maynard, Mass., Adam Martin of Rehoboth Beach, and Jack Martin (Cody) of Milford; his grandchildren, Miles Martin Markley and Max Martin Markley; his brothers, Dan Martin (Nancy) of Kingston, Wash., and Jim Martin of Landenberg, Pa.; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and -nephews.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jeff’s life in the spring of 2024.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947, bvspca.org/donate/donation-form, include in memory of Jeff Martin.
