Nancy Claire O’Day, DuPont retiree

Nancy Claire O’Day, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.  She was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Cambridge, Md., daughter of the late Alton and Anna Culver O’Day.

 Nancy graduated from Seaford High School Class of 1954 and went on to graduate from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington. She retired from E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. Inc., with 20 years of service in their Wilmington and Seaford locations as staff secretary. Nancy then worked for friends who owned Captain’s Galley II in Ocean City, Md., for 28 years.  A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her son, Michael A. Lankford; her daughter, Michelle A. Lankford; and her granddaughter, Courtney Savage, all of Rehoboth Beach; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Beckett, and Kennedy Savage; her sister, Melody O. Whitelock of Salisbury, Md.; her nephews, Joseph Whitelock and Darryl Whitelock; and her nieces, Tracey Du Vaul and Melody Shawn Whitelock.

Services will be private.
