Milford civic and nonprofit groups support Big Draw Festival Oct. 7

Mispillion Art League’s Big Draw Festival is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, when attendees can enjoy free, family-friendly art activities on Park Avenue in downtown Milford. This event is a way for the community to gather and engage the senses of touch, sight, sound, taste and smell while creating art.

The festival is being supported by many Milford civic and nonprofit organizations, making it a real community event. The Milford Public Library, Milford Museum, Music School of Delaware and Second Street Players/First State Improv have all created art activities for the public to enjoy.

The Big Draw opening ceremony starts at 10 a.m. with Milford Mayor Archie Campbell as master of ceremonies, joined by speakers Rep. Bryan Shupe, R-Milford, and Milford Chief of Police Cecilia Ashe. There will be sandcastle building, ink blot art, mosaics, pumpkin painting, making edible art, blind portrait drawing, creating buttons, stamp art, sidewalk chalk drawing and more. Free sketchbooks will be given out while supplies last. 

First organized in the United Kingdom in 2000, the Big Draw Festival is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express and invent. Activities are for anyone looking to have a fun art-making experience.
