Patricia Grace Bonowitz, devoted to family

September 21, 2023

Patricia Grace Bonowitz, 80, of Millsboro, passed away at her home with the support of her family and Accent Care Hospice Sept. 19, 2023. Patricia’s life was defined by her unwavering love and devotion to her family and friends.

She was born in Burlington, Vt., to the late Lawton and Frances Demo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Abraham Bonowitz; her sister, Marjory Lockerby; and her grandson, Brian Keith Binder.

Patricia retired after 35-plus years of work, raising and loving her children, managing Skippers of Chincoteague, and selling deeded land in Virginia. She enjoyed bird-watching, as well as watching her favorite shows on TV. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with and listening to the stories of her children and grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Selert and her husband Ed of New Church, Va., Crystal Binder of Millsboro, and Kimberly Vadsaz and her husband Andy of Lewisburg Pa.; and one son, Joseph Bonowitz of New Church. Patricia was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

The family would also like to thank Accent Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

Over the years, Patricia has been a sanctuary for unwanted stray animals, and there were many. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Patricia’s memory to a local SPCA.

A celebration of her life will be held later. Contact the family for details.
