Beacon hockey downs Georgetown 7-0

The Beacon Middle School field hockey team moved to 4-0 with a 7-0 shutout of Georgetown Middle Oct. 11.

Ellen Ramsey and Mikaela Gordon each had a hat trick for the Vikings. Ella Levy also hit the backboard for a score.

Ramsey tallied two assists, while Gordon and Kailey McMahon each had a helper.

Beacon garnered 13 penalty corners in the contest, while giving up their first corner and their first shot of the season. Beacon goalie Sophia Connelly had one save.

“The kids played a great game today,” said Beacon coach Lynn Richardson. “Our midfield really controlled the game and did a nice job distributing the ball.”

The Vikings will host Smyrna Monday, Oct. 16.

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
