Philip Marvin Humphrey, Navy veteran, printer

October 24, 2023

Philip "Phil” Marvin Humphrey, 89, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at Cadia Rehabilitation Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro. He was born March 8, 1934, in Washington, D.C., son of the late  Vernon Wirt and Gertrude (Landy) Humphrey.

Phil answered the call to serve his country enlisting in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he started a career as a printer, retiring after many dedicated years. Phil married Kathleen Humphrey May 13, 1989, in Rehoboth Beach, and together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage. He was a devoted member of the AA fellowship, never missing a meeting and trying to help others in need as often as he could. More than anything, Phil treasured time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. His presence will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Phil is survived by his wife, Kathleen Humphrey; his daughters, Deborah Humphrey and Donna Pester; his stepsons, Kenny and Mark Drummond; his six grandchildren; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
