Texas wins World Series; Harden gone; big week for Eagles

On Wednesday night, the Texas Rangers clinched their first World Series championship in their 60-plus-year existence. I was quite happy with this result since, in my opinion, the Phillies should have been the representative for the National League and not the Arizona Diamondbacks. Congratulations, never the less, to the Diamondbacks for a very successful season considering where they were two years ago. The Rangers set a record by going 11-0 in road games in the postseason. Even if the Phillies had met Texas in the World Series, I think it would have been tough to win against these Rangers. Their offense was pretty potent, and they had two good pitchers in Nathan Eovaldi and Jordan Montgomery at the top of the rotation that would have matched up well with the Phillies’ aces. I am already looking forward to spring training. Go Phillies.

The 76ers have finally answered the James Harden question. He will never play for them again. Three games into the season, they finally pulled the trigger on a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden‘s preferred destination. I think this will be a huge relief to the team because James Harden has been one of the biggest divas in the NBA for his whole career. 

So far this season, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are playing really well together. This is a strong base of talent to be able to keep up with the other top teams in the Eastern Conference – the Milwaukee Bucks, the Boston Celtics, and the Miami Heat. 

The next two weeks for the Eagles will serve as a good measuring stick for how successful this season could be. The Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys at home this Sunday at 4:15 p.m., and then after their bye week, they play the defending Super Bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs, in Kansas City. If they want to have a chance to win both these games, the defense has to play better than it did this past Sunday against the Washington Commanders. The Eagles won this game 38-31. For some reason, the Commanders’ offense was able to go up and down the field at will on the defense.

The main reason the Eagles won the game is because Eagles receiver AJ Brown continues to play great football. He became the first receiver in NFL history to have six consecutive games of 125 or more yards receiving. He had one incredible catch for a touchdown in the second half. Somehow he was able to catch the ball one handed while falling into the sideline of the end zone. Since the Kansas City Chiefs lost this game, the Eagles are the only team in the league with a 7-1 record.
