Browseabout Books to feature author Marianne Laino Sade Nov. 11

November 6, 2023

Author/illustrator Marianne Laino Sade will be at Browseabout Books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, for a book signing and meet-and-greet event. She will have samples of her original artwork from her new book, “TAPUM!” and will be happy to share her process. She looks forward to personalizing each copy and meeting the public. Babies are welcome!

Sade, a resident of Chestertown, Md., creates hand-cut original, playful collages from magazines and transforms them into settings mostly featuring crows. Her colorful picture book, “TAPUM!” uses the same technique and captures the harmony of the natural world through the rhythm of a child’s drum.

This preschool book is recommended for ages 0-4 years, but is meant to be enjoyed by child and caregiver alike. Sade culled years of experience as a children’s librarian and artist to make an attractive book with a simple rhyme and an upbeat message. It is dedicated to drummers (and wannabe drummers) everywhere.

In addition to her Drexel University master’s library degree, Sade earned a certificate of fine arts from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore and taught art to children at the Walters Art Museum as senior coordinator of outreach. She has led art workshops and classes for all ages in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Copies of “TAPUM!” are available for purchase at $10.99. Browseabout Books is located at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, or go to browseaboutbooks.com. The event is free.
