Gerald Lee Carter Sr., proud Sussex Countian
Gerald Lee Carter Sr., affectionately known as “Jerry,” 68, of Milton, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.
Jerry was born July 21, 1955, in Milford, to his late mother Elizabeth Ann Murphy.
He worked as a drywall contractor, and his strong work ethic was admired by many. He attended Old Paths Church of Christ with his wife, Aimee. His dynamic personality and quick-witted sense of humor lit up every room he entered. He was a gifted speaker, never shy to engage in conversation or share a funny story with both friends and strangers. He was a compassionate man who offered good advice and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He was a proud member of the Phoenix Motorcycle Club, known there as Ghostrider, a testament to his love for Harley motorcycles. Jerry celebrated 35 years of sobriety, and had hosted a weekly 12-step program in Ellendale for seven years. He was a proud Sussex Countian, an avid hunter and a loyal friend, often referring to everyone as brother, girl, or man. Jerry's life was a testament to his love for his family, his passion for his work, and the connections he built over the years.
In addition to his mother, Jerry is preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Lee Carter; and his infant sister, Joy Lynn Murphy.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Aimee L. Carter; his children, Gerald Lee Carter II and wife Jenna C. Carter, Elizabeth Ann Carter, Cole Phoenix Carter and Lillee Diamond Carter; his sister, Karen Lynn Murphy; and his grandson, Tyler Samuels.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at Old Paths Church of Christ, 18295 Redden Road, Georgetown.
