Jay Holloway, active volunteer
Jay Holloway, 84, of Greenwood went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born June 6, 1939, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Willard and Margaret Holloway.
Jay attended St. Paul’s School for Boys in Baltimore, and Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where he majored in business administration and minored in ROTC. He did postgraduate work at Salisbury State University. Jay spent his career with the State of Delaware as a probation and parole officer, and served in the United States Air Force Reserve, where he reached the rank of colonel. After retirement, Jay spent many years volunteering at the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, Md., and was active in Family Ministries Fellowship in Bridgeville.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Holloway; his oldest son, Eric; and his brother, William Pomeroy. He is survived by his youngest son, Kevin; his grandson, Patrick Holloway; and his former wife, Kathleen Holloway.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12650 Road 631, Greenwood, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a private interment at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville.
