Big changes are occurring at a prominent Milton intersection.
Work is underway to clear trees from a lot at the corner of Cave Neck Road and Front Street. Work began the week of Nov. 13. As of Nov. 15, the trees in a large section along Cave Neck Road and Front Street have been cut down.
The lot is the site of Cannery Village Phase 4, which will comprise 117 townhouses on a 27-acre parcel. The development by Chestnut Properties LLC is planned to have standard town streets – 28 feet wide – as well as sidewalks on both sides. The townhouses would all have garages attached, but the development would also have 98 additional off-street parking spaces and 12 acres of open space, including wetlands and woods.
The project was given final site-plan approval in 2021, with an extension granted in July 2022 to give the developer extra time to line up contractors.
Phase 4 is one of two Cannery Village projects in the works. Across Cave Neck Road, the 96-unit Phase 3B recently gained preliminary approval from town officials. The project comprises four three-story buildings, each with 24 units.
