Patricia Hughes Hudson, loved ER nursing

Patricia Hughes Hudson, RN, 72, of Lincoln passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Milford.

Pat was born in Dover, the daughter of the late Willard and Josette (Peirani) Hughes. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and Wilmington University, earning her BSN in 1994. After graduation, Pat began her career in 1972 at Beebe Hospital, Lewes, working in labor and delivery until 1975. She left Beebe and in 1976 began working at Kent General Hospital, Dover, in the emergency room. Her love was working in the emergency room, but in 2008, she left to work at Genesis Eldercare, Milford for five years before finally retiring.

She was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford. Pat enjoyed cross stitching, singing with the Praise Team at Avenue Church, and her dogs. She was known to be a social butterfly, and would speak to just about anybody. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Julian Edward Hudson, in 2017.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Hurd and her husband Wayne; and two grandchildren, Ethan Hurd and Faith Hurd.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
