Frances D. Ounan, loved family, entertaining

Frances “Fran” D. Ounan, 92, (three days shy of her 93rd birthday) passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at home after a long illness surrounded by her loving family. 

Fran was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Media, Pa., daughter of the late Gordon Patrick and Helen B. Collins Patrick. She attended Media High School, where she graduated in 1948.  After graduation, she met her future husband on Long Beach Island, N.J., while vacationing for the summer.

Born in Media, she then resided in Wilmington, where she spent the majority of her life raising her family.  After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Lewes with her family to enjoy the beaches, relaxing on the pontoon boat, crabbing, fishing, and traveling.  She also loved gathering with her friends and playing cards, shopping, day trips, the beach, and the enjoyment of being an avid lover of dogs. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and entertaining.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 63 years, Jack; and her sister, Anne Lank. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Ounan of Lewes.
