Carole Moore White, beach lover, matriarch

December 1, 2023

Carole Moore White, 86, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, surrounded by her four loving daughters.

She was born in Beebe Hospital Dec. 10, 1936, and graduated from Rehoboth High School class of 1954. Her parents, Doris and Carlton Moore, owned Moore’s Pharmacy on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. She had many fond memories of working at the soda fountain and behind the pharmacy counter with her father, as well as helping her mother in the rental apartments above the store. In her teens, she met Fritz White on the beach at St. Lawrence Street and thus began a relationship that lasted until his passing in 2020. They married in 1958 and after Carole graduated from Hood College, they moved to Frederick, Md., and began their family. In 1962, they moved to Richmond, Va., where they spent most of their adult lives before retiring to Florida. Carole loved Rehoboth Beach, especially at St. Lawrence Street, which locals once called Siberia because of how few people used it. While the girls were young, the family would return to South Rehoboth and spend the summer in their beach house. She loved entertaining and would invite friends and family to join them.

Carole was the proud mother of four daughters, lovingly referred to as my girls, Liz White of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Mindi Carter of Lewes, Nancy Weeks of Mineral, Va., and Pat Forsythe (Steve) of Milton, Fla. She was known as Gram to six grandchildren and GiGi to four great-grandchildren. Carole cherished the time spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her twin brothers, Bill and Bob Moore.
