Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club celebrates new building

The Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club celebrated the completion of its new addition Nov. 30 in Millsboro. Ground breaking for the 3,200-square-foot space took place June 15, thanks to funds raised by the Great Futures Gala. The addition doubled the building’s size, adding bathrooms, classrooms and security. It enables the club to increase to school’s enrollment by 50 members.

"We are so thankful for this expansion project,” said Boys & Girls Club Site Director Erica Kennedy. “It is such a blessing to our club to have the additional spacing in order to be able to accommodate more kids in our community. Thank you so much to the Great Futures Gala committee for making this vision happen!"

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
