In 2019, Lisa Travis finished her first transformation with Antonio’s Training, and her results were nothing short of amazing. She dropped 26 pounds and was in the best shape of her life. Afterward, she took what she learned and established a consistent workout routine, so she was able to maintain her weight and health right up until the COVID pandemic – but that’s when things started to fall apart.
“When COVID hit, I was stuck in the house and stressed like most people, and I slowly began to creep into old habits,” said Lisa.
She even went out and bought weights in an attempt to stay in shape. But without a proper diet and structure, she still continued to put on weight. Eventually, the isolation and stress got the best of her, and she gained her weight back plus some; that’s when the real health issues began.
“I knew I needed to come back and do the program again, but the biggest thing holding me back was that I was embarrassed,” she said.
Soon, the weight gain translated into pain and injuries, so she decided she needed to make a decision.
“I began to notice that even walking up eight steps was a chore and made my knees hurt,” she said. “I was too out of shape to play tennis, so I tried to play golf.”
None of these things worked because the additional weight was making her exhausted and out of breath, and caused several other issues. Lisa finally made the call and signed up for a second transformation, but nobody could have predicted how much better her results would be the second time around.
This time, the weight began to melt off at a much faster pace, and Lisa’s progress was better in every category. She became much stronger, dramatically improving her endurance and physical appearance. It seemed like we could see her shrinking on a daily basis. Despite the visual changes, the data we tracked was much more impressive.
When Lisa finished, she had lost a total of 45 pounds and now looks like an entirely different person. Her A1C dropped from a dangerous 8.9 to a healthy 5.7, and her doctor took her off medication. Her cholesterol dropped from 212 to 142, and the pain in her knees went away completely. She is now capable of challenging workouts that include weight training, body weight movements and intense cardiovascular training. She turned her out-of-shape COVID body into a lean, tight body she is proud of, and she looks so different that people barely recognize her.
I think one of the greatest lessons of Lisa’s story is there are times even the best of us get out of shape and feel like we have lost control of our health. However, the question is, are we going to take the necessary steps to get things under control? Lisa sure did, and her results will surely be inspirational to anyone who reads her story.
