Christmas in Georgetown to kick off holiday fun Dec. 16
The 11th annual Christmas in Georgetown event will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at El Mercado Market, 15 Layton Ave., Georgetown. It will feature a toy giveaway, raffles, free food and music to help community members ring in the festive season.
“This is a time for the whole family to come out and enjoy the holiday season,” said Kevin Andrade, owner of the Voice Radio Network and the event’s lead organizer. “For more than a decade, Sussex County families have been coming for Santa, holiday fun and free food, and we’re continuing the experience this year.”
Inside El Mercado, Santa Claus will be giving away toys to all children up to age 12. Anyone age 13 and up can enter raffles for a PlayStation5, bicycles and kids’ ATVs.
This year’s sponsors include the Historic Georgetown Association, which will be offering free train rides for kids. The festivities will also include live music on stage and food from sponsor El Mercado.
“We appreciate all the support from our sponsors and supporters,” Andrade said. “Christmas is a time of coming together and celebrating the bonds that connect us all.”
Supporting businesses include Lupton Law, GirafKids, the Delaware Council on Gambling Problems, Alpas Wellness, I.G. Burton, Hampton Inn, Morales Builders, Mountaire Farms, Whitehead Law, Sullivan’s Landscaping and Maintenance, Harvard Business Services and Latinos Multiservices Inc.
